The safe room is just meant to be a highly defensible area in the event of a massive pod-drop raid, for my non-combat colonists. I just didn't add a screenshot of the entire base, because that's a little off the point of my post. Bugs are no longer a problem for me, with my colonists decked out in stolen VOID gear and VOID implants I've bought off traders, and several mages from Rimworld of Magic. At least 3/4 of the mountain is already carved out at this point, with a sizeable area at the mountain entrance for farming and power generation. This colony is already about 5-6 years old. Portal as a last resort to abandon the colony and escape to a side outpost Arcane capacitator to fuel any magic users (particular my arcane mage to summon in downed combatants) Mecha-golem can be a last line of defence or laser drill out the side of the mountain Vanometric power cell and mecha-golem to provide emergency power if my battery room elsewhere in the mountain base gets destroyed Spare weapons for the children (they might not get targeted at first without any weapons on them, but it won't matter if its a last stand in the saferoom) Crypto-sleep caskets for anyone too injured to immediately tend to Enough food and medicine to last for several days Replaced all exposed walls with reinforced granite While making my preparations for the inevitable massive VOID raid, I decided I needed a safe room for non-combatants and children, but I may have gone overboard a little.
